For over 80 years, Crosscare has supported individuals and families in Ireland who face poverty and injustice. From this experience, we know that it is always the most vulnerable—those without power or voice—who suffer most in times of crisis.

Today, as we witness the devastation in Gaza and other conflict zones, we cannot remain silent. We acknowledge the recent ceasefire agreement has been violated countless times, and it has not ended the extreme suffering for people in Gaza. We know that Israel’s genocide in Gaza has not stopped, and people are still dying from direct military operations. Our mission, values, and lived experience demand that we stand against injustice, war, and genocide—wherever they occur.

Supporting Those Affected by War

In our work, our staff are walking alongside many people who have fled conflict and persecution, including those from Gaza. Our dedicated teams—such as the Crosscare In-Reach team and our Information and Advocacy Service—provide guidance, advocacy, and practical support to help people rebuild their lives here.
We also support individuals through our homeless and youth services, creating safe spaces where people can begin to feel at home, heal, and find hope for the future.

Our Commitments Moving Forward

  1. Using Our Resources Responsibly

We will review our purchasing decisions and supplier relationships in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—ensuring respect for human rights, fair labour practices, and environmental sustainability.

  1. Advocating for Peace and Justice

As a leader in social care and youth services, Crosscare has both the platform and the responsibility to use our voice.

– We will continue to articulate our opposition to genocide and human rights violations clearly.
– We will direct people to accurate, trustworthy information and meaningful ways to express solidarity.
– We will encourage public officials to ensure that those with visas to Ireland are promptly supported and treated with dignity, and to ensure that Ireland plays no role in enabling or excusing genocide.
– We will participate in national events aligned with our ethos and values.

  1. Creating Spaces for Reflection and Healing

Recognising the emotional and spiritual toll of global conflicts on our staff, volunteers, and service users, Crosscare will:

– Host a peace gathering, open to people of all faiths and none, to honour victims, hear their stories, and stand together in solidarity.
– Encourage each Crosscare project to provide regular spaces for reflection, support, and mutual care.
– Resource our youth services to develop programmes that promote inclusion, challenge hate speech, and foster dialogue and cooperation across communities.

Standing Together

At Crosscare, we remain firm in our commitment to justice, human dignity, and peace. We stand with the oppressed. We will continue to use our voice, our platform, and our resources to challenge injustice—and to build a more compassionate world.
