Dear Volunteer,

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Crosscare. Crosscare is the social support agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin and we are committed to the protection and welfare of young people and vulnerable adults in our care.  There are a number of procedures in place in Crosscare to safeguard children/vulnerable adults, employees and volunteers.  The first of relevance to you is the volunteer recruitment and Garda vetting procedure

To begin your application, you are requested to complete the following documents contained in this pack:

  • A Volunteer Application Form.
  • A Vetting Invitation Form (NVB1)
  • Character Reference Forms (Please print and fill in 2 of these)
  • Reference Document: 100 point Identifier Check

To access these documents as downloads, please see below.

You are provided with a blank Character and Personal Reference Forms. You will need to print this form out twice as two references are required. Please have someone you have known for at least one year to complete these forms.  Please note: the referees cannot be a family member, friend or neighbour.

All forms must be returned in person so please make an appointment to meet the Crosscare service/staff member that you have been dealing with.

As part of the Garda vetting process you are asked to produce identification in person in accordance with the 100 point system (see enclosed). At least one of these should be photographic e.g. X1 Passport (70 points) AND x1 Utility bill (35 points). Please ensure to bring these original documents with you to your appointment.

Please ensure to fill out all questions in all forms correctly to the best of your ability as incomplete forms may delay your application. If you need assistance or information please contact Samantha at 01-8360011.

On receipt of your application, your forms will be processed and you will be contacted by email to complete the Garda Vetting Form on line.  This must be done within 30 days otherwise the process will have to begin again.  Whilst your form is being processed you cannot begin volunteering but we will offer you the opportunity to participate in child protection training.  It is mandatory for all volunteers to complete child protection training before taking up duties with children/young people or vulnerable adults.

Many thanks,

Ger Magee,

Senior Manager, Crosscare.
