In this manifesto submission, and in preparation for the forthcoming general election, a coalition of civil society organisations, including Crosscare, has come to together to advocate for policies that uphold the rights and dignity of people seeking protection, beneficiaries of temporary protection and refugees.
The recommendations are divided into six core themes and are based on our organisations’ frontline experience of working with people seeking protection. We need urgent action to address serious issues within the international protection process such as homelessness and poor accommodation standards, poverty and social exclusion, and to improve public confidence in the system.
This submission creates a road map for stabilising the process, and ending the often-extreme hardship that people in that process must endure.
