In 2019, Sinead Ryan approached the team at our Homeless Family Hub in Drumcondra with a simple idea: to run fitness classes for children living in homeless accommodations.
The results and reactions were incredible, with families and children who had no choice but to live together in confined accommodation responding enthusiastically to Sinead’s classes.
Sinead went on to develop “Little Fitness” and has gone from strength to strength. The Little Fitness programme is inclusive for all children and families living in emergency accommodation, family hubs, and other settings where children may encounter barriers within their community.
The programme teaches fitness classes in an educational way using different themes, skills and games each week.
In a recent podcast with Louise Mc Sharry, Sinead spoke of the origins of the Little Fitness programme in our family hub and how the children and families inspired her to do more.
